About Dr. Marissa
I study how consciousness emerges from the dialogue between brain and body. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Neuroscience and Quantitative Psychology from USC, where I investigated the neural basis of schizophrenia using electroencephalography (EEG) and event-related potentials (ERPs). My expertise spans multiple psychophysiological measurement techniques, including surface electromyography (sEMG) and electrocardiography (EKG), which I use to explore brain-heart synchrony and multi-organ coherence. After completing my B.A. in Neuroscience and Comparative Literature at Cornell University, I developed research interests bridging hard science and theoretical frameworks: from quantum theories of consciousness and General Resonance Theory to computational models of information processing and sub-threshold perceptual phenomena. I am a data scientist and statistician, professor of statistics, psychology, and neuroscience at UCI, Research Director for the EpiEnergetics foundation, Head of Efficacy at tapouts, ghostwriter (nonfiction and fiction), dissertation chair, editor, and writer.
I coach and ghostwrite for thought leaders, scientists, CEOs, global leaders, and social entrepreneurs.
